đď¸ How to Create a Simple, Magical Bedtime Reading Routine
You donât need a âperfectâ routineâjust a consistent, gentle one that fits your family. Hereâs an easy pattern you can start tonight:
- Dim the lights and put away phones/tablets.
- Let your child choose 1â2 picture books (give them a small selection if they get overwhelmed).
- Snuggle up in the same place every nightâbed, couch, or a special âreading chair.â
- Read slowly, with expression. Pause to ask tiny questions:
- âWhat do you think happens next?â
- âHow does Benny feel here?
- End with a simple phrase that repeats every night, like:
âThe story is over, our hearts are full, now itâs time to sleep.â
Even 10â15 minutes of this each evening can make a measurable difference in language skills, emotional regulation, and sleepâwhile filling your childâs memory bank with warm, safe moments.
